The University of Nevada Las Vegas is a short 4 mile drive from the Hampton Inn Tropicana Hotel. The first classes were held on campus in 1957, and since then, UNLV has made the transformation from a small branch college into a thriving urban research institution of more than 28,000 students. UNLV offers over 220 degree programs, including bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees. One of the largest crowds to ever watch a team sporting event in the history of Nevada State occurred at the Sam Boyd Stadium for the Las Vegas Bowl.
